Carnation Care Instructions
Keep them cool at all times if possible.
Strip leaves from the bottom half of each stem.
When cutting stems, ensure you cut above one of the nodes that run up the stalk as this will allow the stem to draw water more easily.
Re-cut at least 2cm off each stem and place in water.
Use a preservative, as this helps the buds open and keeps open flowers looking fresh.
Replace vase water with fresh water and preservative each day.
Keep away from ripening fruits and vegetables as they give off ethylene gas which carnations are very sensitive to, making their petals curl inwards and shrivel. Also keep away from car exhausts and cigarette smoke.
